Client: Essa Public Library

The new Angus Library aims to better serve a diverse community, while enhancing the natural characteristics of the site. The building responds to 3 distinct site conditions. To the West, a curved road results in the shield-like gesture of the administrative wing. To the North, an existing campus of community buildings (including the Angus Arena) allow for the creation of a vital new public square which the library will contain. To the South, a forest of tall white pine trees allows for spaces of contemplation and study at the edge of nature.
